Day 1: Rafting tour in Vang Vieng - Camping Tour in Vang Vieng, Laos (L, D)
We depart from our office in Vang Vieng and start with one 1 hour drive to north of Vang Vieng on Route 13, passing by lime stone karsts. Then we drive approximately 30 minutes west on a rough dirt road to our starting point at Nam Lik River. After orientation and safety instructions, we learn basic paddling techniques before starting through grade 2-3 rapids (up to class 5 in high water) on the Nam Lik River for 3 km. These will be the biggest rapids of the trip. After this session, we will camp on a stone beach in the Nam Lik Forest for a relaxing evening along the riverbank.
Approximately: 1 and a half hour transfer/ 15 minute instruction/ 4 hour kayaking or rafting.
Day 2: Ban Muean Muang Feaung - Hin Heup - Vang Vieng (B, L)
We rise early for the sunrise. After breakfast we repack and prepare for another half day of kayaking/rafting. At around 9am, we will leave with our kayaks for our next destination, Ban Nong Phet Na Seng. We will pass through 20 small to medium sized rapids. Laos rafting On Nam NikAfter all the excitement and having had lunch, we take a long tail boat ride for 1 hour that takes us to Ban Muean Muang Feaung. From here, we have a pick-up for 1 hour drive to Hin Heup and on to Vang Vieng.
Approximately: 2 and a half hour transfer (to Vang Vieng/ 3 hour kayaking or rafting / 1 hour long tail boat.
Things to bring: Hat, sun-screen, waterproof clothes & shoes, insect repellent, warm clothes for changing in the evening, sarong for changing and bathing, sunglasses. first-aid kits and toiletries are necessary.
