In the morning, we pick you up at your hotel and transfer to the Khmu village of Ban Huay Lo where we start our trek today. The trail passes through two Khmu & H'mong villages, whilst continuously gaining height. Lunch will be served in the suitable travel site. We will trek to H'mong village of Ban Mok Chung where we will visit local family and learn about the culture of the H'mong. We continue to Ban Mok Chung, another H'mong village, for dinner and stay overnight.
Today, you will trek further into the rugged and densely forested mountains west of the Nam Ou valley. We trek through remote and beautiful bamboo forest & limestone mountain. Lunch is served in the Khmu-village of Ban Na Savang. Dinner and Home-stay is in the village of Ban Houay Kok.
After breakfast, our trek take us pass the Khmu Village of Huay Kha to Tad Ngai and Tad Noi waterfalls, where we have lunch break and relax in the cool water of the waterfalls. The trek ends on the banks of the Nam Ou River in the late afternoon. We will have dinner and stay overnight in the Lao Leu village of Ban Pak Chaek.
We cross the Nam Ou River by fishing boat then walk pass the Pak Chaek village of the Lao Leu. The trek is along the valley and through scenic villages and rice fields. We reach Yha Nang Village at noon where we take a break for a picnic lunch. After lunch we head to Huay Oun Village where we have dinner and stay overnight.
After breakfast, we trek toward Pha Pon Golden Mountain. From the top of the mountain we got great view of the valley below. You have picnic lunch on the mountain. We continue the trek from Pha Pon Area to Ban Hat Huay, a Khmu village where we have dinner and stay overnight.
After breakfast, you start with a 1-hr road trip by songthaew. We travel along a dirt road into a spectacular limestone landscape. After reaching the starting point, the village of Ban Na Po, on the Nam Xeuang River, we get basic paddle instruction and practice. The first river stretch takes us through rapids of grade 1-2, suitable for beginners.
A Lao style picnic lunch is prepared at a scenic spot on the riverside. There is time for swimming and relaxing, the more adventurous can jump off cliffs into the cool and deep Nam Xeuang River.
We come back to the pickup-point to transfer back to Luang Prabang. Tour ends.
Food: All meals, which are indicated in the itinerary, are included in the price of this trip. In big towns we will enjoy Laotian cuisine in fine restaurants. Once we travel away from big towns, the emphasis will be on healthy and nutritious fresh local produce. Please inform us at the time of booking if you have any special dietary requirement.
Home-stay: Home-stay in villages is basic in term of bedding condition and toilet. We will stay overnight in the traditional house of the locals. We will be provided with mattress, clean sheet, pillows and mosquito nets. Toilet could be some steps away from the house.
Tour guide: The tour will be guided by our local tour guides who are experienced in guiding adventure tours. They have been carefully trained in their specialized field. They are also fully licensed in tour guiding by the government. In addition, they have been trained in first-aid and they know how to deal with difficult situations. You will have a great time traveling with them.
The trekking day: A typical trekking day starts at about 8.00 am or 8.30 am after breakfast. Lunch times can vary depending on the distance. We aim to reach the next overnight stop by 4.30 pm or 5.00 pm. During the trek we will have short breaks for rest, snack and photographing.
What to bring: Hat, sun-scream, torch, swim suit and sarong for bathing, clothes/shoes to get wet, mosquito repellent, warm change of clothes for the evening
